Traveling with Kids: Tips and Family-Friendly Destinations for Your Next Vacation

Summer is the perfect time to embark on exciting adventures with your little ones. But let’s face it, travelling with children can be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping them entertained and happy throughout the journey. However, with careful planning and creativity, you can make your family trip an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Here are some tips for travelling with children, including family-friendly destinations and activities, to help maximize your summer vacation.

And since summer is just around the corner, it is essential for kids to explore the world outside of their comfort zone. The best way to do this is to give them the opportunity to enjoy a little bit of sun and a lot of activities. First, choosing the right destination is crucial when travelling with children. You want to pick a place that is family-friendly, safe and offers plenty of fun activities for kids of all ages. 

Here are some top family-friendly destinations to consider for your summer vacation:

  1. Orlando, Florida – Known as the “theme park capital of the world,” Orlando is a dream destination for kids. With Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and Legoland all within driving distance, there is no shortage of fun and adventure to be had here.
  2. Bali, Indonesia – With its stunning beaches, lush rice terraces, and friendly locals, Bali is a paradise for families. Kids will love the water parks, adventure tours, and cultural activities this beautiful island offers. Visiting another country will also provide your children the opportunity to explore different cultures and traditions, try different cuisines, see the world in a different way.   3. National Parks – If your family loves the outdoors and nature, consider visiting a national park. Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Grand Canyon are just a few national parks in the United States. At the same time, the Philippines has Batanes, Sagada, and Masungi Georeserve, to name a few.
  4. Urban Destinations – If your family loves city life, consider visiting cities such as Tokyo, Hong Kong, New York, or Paris. These destinations offer plenty of kid-friendly attractions such as museums, zoos, and amusement parks.

Packing Tips

Packaging wisely is important to avoid breakdowns and make your trip go smoothly. Here are some tips for packing when travelling with kids:

  1. Bring Entertainment – Long car rides or flights can be tough on kids, so bring plenty of entertainment. This could include books, tablets, or colouring books.
  2. Pack Snacks – Hungry kids are unhappy kids. Pack plenty of snacks and drinks to keep everyone happy and fed.
  3. Bring Extra Clothes – Kids are notorious for spilling or getting dirty, so pack extra clothes for them (and maybe even for yourself!).
  4. Remember the Essentials – Be sure to pack sunscreen, bug spray, and any medications your child might need.

Once you’ve arrived at your destination, it’s time to start having fun! Here are some family-friendly activities to consider:

  1. Zoo or Aquarium – Kids love animals, so visiting a zoo or aquarium can be an excellent experience. Consider visiting the Manila Ocean Park, Bali Safari, Marine Park, or the San Diego Zoo.
  2. Water Parks – Water parks are fun to beat the heat and keep everyone calm. Some popular water parks include Atlantis Aquaventure in Dubai, Sunway Lagoon in Malaysia, and Enchanted Kingdom in the Philippines.
  3. Museums – Many museums offer exhibits and activities geared towards kids, making them an excellent option for a family outing. Consider visiting the Mind Museum in Taguig, the National Museum of Natural History in Manila, or the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
  4. Amusement Parks – Amusement parks offer plenty of rides and attractions that are perfect for kids (and adults!). Consider visiting Disneyland or Universal Studios. There’s also Disneyland in Hongkong and Universal Studios in Japan. Japan boasts a lot of theme parks (and kid’s activities as well).
